Rybovich Refits Garlington Sportfish

When a busy executive decided to purchase a large sport fish yacht, he was unable to find the perfect fit. Instead, he decided to purchase a ten year old Garlington 78 and turned to ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group member, Rybovich, to make it his dream.

He wanted a state of the art sport fishing yacht equally comfortable for fishing tournaments and carrying his family through the Caribbean. And he wanted it quickly. By working with Rybovich the yacht was virtually recreated and delivered in less than four months. During this time, “Jaruco,” a Garlington designed McMullen and Wing built yacht with LOA of slightly over 80 feet was radically transformed.

At Rybovich, Jaruco underwent an exhaustive refit including a complete refinish and paint of hull, superstructure, foredeck, fly bridge and cockpit with complete aluminum cleaning, polishing and treatment. The mechanical refit included an exhaustive engine maintenance, rebuild of exhaust systems, replacement of all hoses and pumps, replacement of both generators, complete electrical rewiring with replacement of all electrical panels, replacement and repositioning of batteries, switches and fuel cleaning system; installation of new day head holding tank, two new AC chillers, seven new air handlers with UV air purification systems and a new ducting system. Further mechanical additions included three new Seakeeper gyro stabilizers with an acrylic floor for see through monitors.

The interior upgrade consisted of virtually all new soft goods as well as all overhead, wall and floor coverings, including a new teak and holly wood floor for the salon bar area, galley, staircase, and stateroom corridors. New Release Marine custom barstools to match the refinished counters and interior were also integrated. A new lighting system (halogen to LED conversion) and remote controlled window treatments were installed throughout the yacht as was substantially all new appliances, including dishwasher, icemaker, 5 flat screen televisions, a new sound system, and a comprehensive integrated Crestron IPad driven AV system.

For electronics, a complete replacement to a state of the art four monitor Garmin system with new SAT communication system, chirp sonar, open array radar, FLIR system, chart plotter and hydraulically actuated outriggers was performed. No detail was overlooked on the refit, down to an icemaker, hidden sink with ice bucket, and a mechanically actuated teak bar all residing on the fly bridge opposite the dinette for the post fish regalia. Add in a refinished Murray fighting chair with a new interchangeable dinette table, a new 17′ diesel jet tender with chocks that convert to a day bed, an underwater portable camera with Wi-Fi connected to the AV system, and cabinetry rework too numerous to detail and the personal flavor of the refit becomes obvious.

 In the owner’s words,

“Given the massive coordination and skilled manpower required to complete this in four months I didn’t think it would happen. Not only was it complete in time for my vacation, the quality of work was beyond reproach.”
